Does modern technology make life more convenient, or was life better when technology was simpler?

Technology has a great impact on the advancement of a society in this fast pace era, one of the greatest inventions of technology include computer, i-Phones, i-pad and so on. These technology has changed people’s lives clearly. So, I agree that modern technology make life more convenient.

            Firstly, in the area of social communication, time and distance is not a problem to technology user. We can just communicate via chat lines with almost anyone who also uses the modern technology for communication. We can also strike up a relationship with anybody through the use of the chat lines like facebook, skype, twitter or even the e-mail. Thus, people from different cultures and beliefs are easily connected, so such social communication will help to change or enlighten an individual’s outlook on life.

            The further development of the Internet technology has also changed the way business communication is done. Today, it is common for business transactions to be conducted and finalized with business partners over the Internet. While there is a little real face to face communication needed. So, how can we deny that modern technology has make our life more convenient since this technology has cut down on time, money and helps to create a paperless society. Vocabulary or phrases like e-transaction and e-transfer are common to the business circle like in banks and the other sectors.

            Besides, the extensive development of the robots in work places has further revolutionized our society. Robots are being extensively used in the manufacturing, chemical and metal industries. Thus, modern technology has helped to create a safer working condition for the workers. Such advancement in technology has also allowed for more women to start taking on jobs which were once only reserved for the men. With more working women, Modern technology has also caused the change of social composition in the workforce of the present day, as women are playing an increasingly important role to the country’s economy. Housewives can even work from their homes, thus able to jungle between managing their homes and their work. This helps our country to achieve a high-income society as vision by our prime minister.

            Furthermore, the extensive use of modern technology has also begun to change the face of education. The development of computer technology has encouraged learning to be done at any place and at any time. Thus, there are new modes of learning for both the adults and children. It is very common for anyone to enroll into any website as e-learning which offers long-distance learning programmes. So, distance learning allows for continuous learning, especially for the adults or working people. Moreover, children in rural areas who need to travel a long distance for far-away schools or even the disabled children can easily resort to distance learning from the comfort of their own house.

            In a nutshell, we can see that the advancement in knowledge of modern technology can easily affect the life-styles of all levels of society. Advancement in computer, internet and all these modern technologies, has clearly changed the way of how modern people live, learn, work and even socialize, compared to the days of our ancestors. So, it is undeniable that modern technology make life more convenient.
