ONE MAN BAND

Two weeks ago, in Mr Razol 's class, our lecturer played us a short movie called " ONE MAN BAND". The movie is from PIXAR, and as we all have know, PIXAR movies are surely interesting and the element of humorous is a definite insertion on this sorts of movie. However, the most important elements in the movie which I want to stress about in this movie is about the survival of the fittest. In my opinion, this element out stands in the whole messages that the director try to expressed to the viewers.


The movie started with an opening of the curtain and there's a man with fully equipped musical instruments. Amazingly, he was able to play all those instruments all by himself. And when he was playing, he saw a little girl holding a gold coin which I'm not sure back in those days how much it worth BUT the girl intended to use the coin for a wish at the pond in the town's plaza. Being the greedy one, he tried to attract the girl's attention and lure her in giving him that gold coin. Which I guess it might be worth a lot to him. When the girl was about to hand it over, suddenly, popped out another one man band opposite of them playing music soothingly in which the man 2 also had the same intention of getting his hand on the gold coin as well. So there you go, 'survival of the fittest' elements started to appear there. man 1 and man 2 were actually going all the way for the sake of that gold coin. But then I have this thought in my mind, what's the purpose of that little girl in this story?

Then I got to know almost in the end of the story, the girl got so terrified by how competitive both the men got, that she accidentally lost her coin which made her even more furious. She got her guts back and asked for a compensation back from both the men but unfortunately, they do not have any so the girl ask for a violin from man 2. So she played it which at first it didn't sound good in fact it was horrendous but when she adjusted the instrument, she started to play amazingly. :) And I know it sounds cliche, but she earned one whole sack of gold coin! Yo dude, beat that! And I realized that the role of the little girl in this movie is to stop this whole arguments between them and show them a better way of living. Though she didn't actually give both of them any coins. The main point is, survival or not, it is more important for them to actually work together rather than they fight each other since they both have a special talent on music. That way, maybe they earned more rather than being a lone ranger.


Yet, lesson learned, the message also can be applied here in our harmonic multi-racial country. We should actually work together in developing our country rather than picking sides no? My comment on this story is, it is so cool knowing how a simple short stories has the abilities of giving impact on people's everyday life. :)
